Friday 12th August
Okay! So £115 and a 5 hour train ride later i'm sitting in Busmans.. Bus, waiting for him to finish his rolled up cigarette when he persuades me to go see this killer hill near burton-upon-trent - 3 cars wide, nice smooth surface, dead end road with friendly locals, sounds good? 18% ... sound better? This is one seriously great hill for sliding, Peter says i did a 25 meter backside slide at one point!
Its 6:30 and we're finally at the bunkhouse, about 3 hours late to meet stevo, i've got myself in the bedroom opposite the kitchen with Stevo Ade Chris Tony and Lol, compared to last time with Ash, the crazy dutchy guys and *cough* you all know the story!
Ah yes, i must put in at this point that it excites me, events like this, and meeting old friends does it even more, which would explain why everytime a familiar face turned up i was backflipping the fence to be the first to shake thier hands! (Rich, Dicky, Tom, Slot...
Once everybody had arrived a good few of us headed up to Coggers to session the hairpin (with the rest of them heading up to the farm), the highlight of the hairpin had to be Danny cliff sliding round the hairpin straight into the verge of stingies!
Saturday 13th August
Waking up after a crappy nights sleep i decided to take it out on Stevo by pulling at his hair until he woke up staring at me like a mongo. We all rushed out of bed at 7:00 because it looked dry, when disaster struck. It was soaked through under a blanket of continuous rain. A few of us missioned it up to coggers which was worse than a wet dream.
The first time it was too wet to skate in 4 years on a summer session, Plan B was formulated - The Works skatepark in Leeds. We had a freakin' hilarious drive down, Nick Murray Matt Steve and me, it was a raving headbanging party, and a race with Rich's car to who could get there first (We only won by hiding in Rich's blindspot for 10 minutes!)
I was personally skeptical when we first arrived because with my pintail and severe lack of ramp riding experience i was stuck for things to do, until Rich have me a peptalk persuading me to slide everything in site. I tell you what, for the old man that Ade is, he can really skate that bowl! For anyone who knows the park we took over all the ramps and the pool until 3, and we had a slide jam on the flatbank (most of my day consisted of canining it through the park to the top of the big flatbank, then colemansliding straight back down!) Slams all around, Dickie and his spine, Chris's slam on the ramp and I got a splinter, can you believe it!
Later on we went to wetskate the quarry which was pants, ending up in the kerb on every slide was not fun, but watching Raoul scream down the quarry hill and pull off huge coleman slides was Cool!
After dinner i hit the sack, but rumour has it they sessioned the hairpin through the span of two days!
Sunday 14th August : SKATE DAY!
Dryness!! We split up into the 2 cars (sliders) and 2 vans (carvers). With slightly smaller numbers than session 1, we had really tightnit groups, hell knows where the carvers went, but we went straight to hill 9 (the big long beastly hill) The second we got there it started pouring (AGAIN) but luckliy dried within 20 minutes! A high level of skating allround, but honestly, i cant remember it!
We all met up for a sunday carvery at a pub, that involved one very pissed off wasp and a carrot fight!
Back to hill 9 after lunch, some seriously Fast bombing going on from Matt on his kisiwa, so fast that when he tried to footbrake his shoe hit the wheel and practically cut out a wheel shape on the side of his shoe!
People started filtering off home at this point, so 3 cars headed out to the 'Hell Bend' hightlight of my day! Crash Bang Wallop round about sums it up! 2 out of 3 times people were sent skidding off into the skingies, and Rich even flatspotted a wheel going around the corner standing up!!! There was some super technical stuff from Matt and Nick who were going all sorts of speed checks, 360's and reverses around the corner.
After the hell bend we went back out to a Dry Quarry hill, for a sunday evening session just like session1, and hell! Expression session! I think everybody learned something new, with everyone working together to come up with new slides, grabs and combo's! All sorts of shit went down including switch 540 from mat, 1 handed 3's from stevo and 360's from Nick! Holy cow! I pulled out a 9 aswell as loads of 1 handed backside variations and Rich flatspotted yet another set of wheels "unflatspottable route 10's!" That Kisiwa has some moves baby.
At the end of the evening we ended up at Rich's eating curry and chinese and watching the days footage!
A brilliant summer session, and i'm off to bed for a bloody good liein tomorrow!
